Been working on a buddies 2005 4.7 grand Cherokee. Old motor was no good so we put a used engine in there. Just finished wiring up the motor and i believe we are not getting spark. I am definitely getting fuel at the injectors. What sensor the camshaft or the crank sensor controls the spark? Or is there something else that controls the spark on these motors? Got the engine out of a 04 dakota and both are 32 tone tooth but I noticed also the dakota engine is non egr so by just leaving egr unplugged that won't effect starting will it?

I know very little aabout that engine (I've got a 4.0) but I can tell you that it's likely that BOTH the cam and crankshaft sensor have to be working to get spark.
