2003 Grand Cherokee - SKIM issue
New to the forum but I need all the help I can get. 03 Jeep GC Ltd. 6 cyl, 80k miles, cranks but won't start, no spark, no fuel, dashboard light on for the key, will not communicate with diagnostic computer, I only have one key, car has been down a week and over $300 invested to this point. Had my regular mechanic look at the Jeep, his diagnostic computer could not communicate with the bus, he said it was probably a SKIM issue and it would need maybe a module and most likely would need to be reprogrammed but a dealer only job. Towed to dealer (C & C Jeep PA), 1st day they try to sell me a starter (battery run down because everyone is trying to start the car), 2nd day they tell me their computer cannot communicate with Jeep's computer ($120 test) and they would need 5 more hours @ $150 to diagnose the issue. I TOWED IT OFF THEIR LOT. Pretty disappointed in this Jeep's dealer expertise and an $880 estimate just to find the issue, who knows if they ever actually fix Jeeps. Any ideas or things you can steer me to? I keep hearing that only a Jeep dealer can reprogram. Can't an alarm guy or a automotive locksmith do that? Thank you in advance for any reply, glad to be on board.

I read your problem again and dealers diagnostic will not communicate with your electronics....
So most this may not be the problem but could help others.
this might be the problem - threw me - wouldn't have bet this would have solved the problem.
Got stuck last week and had to have my jeep towed. Starter turned over, but wouldn't start.
Symptoms: key immobilizer light on, fuel empty gauge and cel on. No movement of gauges. Radio and lights worked.
I checked with a code reader and couldn't get a reading.
I had it towed to my local mechanic and he was locked out too, couldn't get into system to read codes.
I would have bet it was something with the immobilizer (skis) system.
Wrong.
So, I ended up having it towed to the dealer.....
Found the problem, a shorted crankshaft position sensor.
Replaced it and all is well for now!

Wow
Yeah I have the same issue as noeffort, The dealer also diagnosed the issue as the cps, but after replacing it I was left with the same issues. I am stumped I was advised to check for a +5 signal wire which I am getting 3.6 volts. I unplugged every sensor under the hood including o2 sensors, and still have the same issue. I'm starting to believe it is a issue with the computer. I'm pretty much stumped!

no injector pulses 2003 jeep cherokee
Check the obvious things first like fuel pressure but no pulses at injectors is a elec problem and check fuses under hood if #26 injectors burnt common problem is wire harness melted wires behind valvecover on drivers side open up harness to expose wires and you will find heat from exhaust has melted some together.
