2002 WJ Laredo: Speaker Upgrade Questions
So it's been awhile since I've been on here. But a few months ago, I purchased a 2002 WJ Laredo 4X4 to use as my daily driver.
It doesn't have the Infinity Gold stereo, and so I want to upgrade the stock speakers. I've already installed a nice Kenwood head unit with Bluetooth and HD Radio. As I understand, the sizes of the speakers are as follows, and all are 4 OHM models:
Front Door: 6X9"
Dash: 2.75" (2X3/4")
Rear Door: 6.75" (6X3/4")
My question is for people who have upgraded either their or someone else's audio system in their Grand Cherokee WJ. I know there's not a lot of room behind the door panels, and the speakers sit really close to the door panels, and so I need to find aftermarket speakers that fit into the locations (front and rear doors) without much, or no, modifications. I also want to replace the dash speakers (2.75") because they don't sound too great. What is the best option for replacing my speakers?
A second question is does anyone know about Powerbass speakers? They make a 2.75" drop-in speaker that looks like the factory speakers, but is supposedly better. Is that brand a good and reputable brand of speaker? I may go ahead and purchase their speakers if it's determined that they'll fit correctly into my Jeep.
