Default 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Control board

Hello, I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the control board was not good, I swap a 2003 Grand Cherokee control board but when the car starts, the engine goes off a few seconds. Is there any thing to look out to fix or it requires programming to work well?

Sounds liked the replacement part had the anti-theft enabled. Not a good thing.

the reprogramming was done, the car moved perfectly, engine was let to idle till when I noticed it was overheating, i put off the engine and two days later the car refused to start until I put some gas into the throttle.

i drove the car for a short distance and temperature rises higher to overheat, I switched off the engine and car refuse to start again.
i called the programmer who came with his friend programmer, he told me that the since the control boards have different part numbers it won't work on this car. Is this true?

What should i check to fix the overheating issue as well?
