2001 grand cherokee front end growling noise

2001 grand cherokee front end growling noise
hi new jeep owner have a 2001 grand cherokee laredo that has a growling -rubbing noise at all speeds sound like coming from front does not change when in 4wd constant at all speeds any ideas what to check thanks.

It is always helpful if you include the engine and the model. 4.0 or 4.7, Laredo, Limited , Overland, etc. Add the information to your profile and/or your signature in the userCP tab.
You either have a wheel bearing that is bad or your front driveshaft is the issue. Jack up the front so you can spin each wheel by hand. See if you can feel any roughness when you spin it. If both wheels spin with no issues, then it is probably the drive shaft.
Crawl under and look at your driveshaft and see if you have u-joints on the front or a rubber boot. Check the rear and see if you have a rubber boot. You can remove the front driveshaft and then do a test drive, if the noise is gone then you know where the problem is. Take a picture of both ends of your driveshaft and post here and we can tell you how to proceed with repairs if it is the problem. Remember to save small pixel sixe pictures or they will not upload to the forum.
