I am pulling my hair out over my wife's 2000 WJ. It all started randomly, but now the problems are almost constant and getting worse. After starting, the brake and abs light will come on in the dash, and it will chime at the same time. The odometer will go out or flicker at the same time, and the radio will fade to static. Just recently the battery has been going dead overnight, the battery turned out to be bad, but a new battery didnt solve anything. I think somehow the voltage may be spiking, the guage on the dash reads about 16-18, and after a short drive the cap is blown off the battery and acid went everywhere.

Any ideas? Help will be greatly appreciated.

 

it's overcharging, alternator or voltage regulator are bad.
