I have a 2000 Jeep grand cherokee that the check engine light came on and it will not go over 30 miles per hr. The transmission wont shift. I can go from Drive to reverse and everything else just fine but I can't drive it because it won't shift at higher speeds and it gets hot and starts smoking. I took it to the dealer and they serviced then told me I needed a new tranny. I was just wondering if there is anything else that i should check before getting a new truck/transmission ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
