2000 jeep grand cherokee 4.7l losing reverse
I have a 2000 jeep grandcherokee limited 4.7l that is losing reverse on cold starts mostly and also after work. all the gears run fine and the fluid is up to normal level and doesn't smell burnt. im wondering if theres anything I can replace or try to maintain without putting a used or rebuilt unit in my jeep. it has 283000 km so shes getting up there. thanks for the time guys

Try warming it up in NEUTRAL after starting when it's cold. It gives the system time to pressurize and the seals to react before they have to do any work. It only takes a minute or so and it's helped mine a lot. I've only got 170K on mine. I started noticing some slippage when it was bitter cold out. I started doing this and when it engages, there is a nice solid "thunk". Before doing this, I'd get an occasional "high governor pressure" fault code.
