Default 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Hello Forum
I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4.7 motor
I am having tranny problems.. code p1698
It will do find for a few days then it will kick down into drive(like limp mode)
I can cut the vechile off and reset it and it will do fine...
I have checked all the wires,,and grounds..
the transmission does not slip...when I bought the vechile it had a craked radiator and I replaced it and have changed the fluid several times
I know its hard to ever get the water out of the torque converter but I keep changing it.,.Anyone with any ideas....

Welcome to CF. That code can be set/triggered by a remote starter device installed on the vehicle. >->http://www.wjjeeps.com/faultcodes.htm#1600
You can have the TCM reflashed at the dealer service dept. to resolve the issues since it's not slipping/doesn't seem to have any damage yet. We have an '04 WJ that we bought new in '03 and we've had it done 3 times so far in 112,000+ miles, twice under warranty.

It almost sounds like what my wk was doing a couple of months ago. Got tcm changed and after $230 later, it's running like new. Mines was throwing out b and c codes. Purty sure codes are different from our vehicles though. Mine was getting stuck on 1st gear till I shut it off and started it up again and about a few minutes of driving, went back to 1st. But my dash was lit like a Christmas tree too. Glad I got it fixed though cuz it would've cost me a purty penny if I hadn't.

Hope you find the problem soon and fix it!
