Okay, I just bought a 2000 JC Laredo.

This thing runs good, very powerful and I thought it was a great buy. I literally drove it 30 miles back home and im now hearing this heavy knocking sound. Ive been reading a million forums and tryn to figure out what it could be.. Rod knock is my first guess.

Pretty heavy knock, speeds up with rpm's, gets fairly quiet at high rpms, Oil pressure is good, Doesnt burn any oil, oil is good level.

Am i screwed or what??

I was told to use a good oil treatment like STP but can that cure knocks or just ticks?

 

Out of right field, A loose or broken flex plate can sound like a rod.
