Well first off I want to mention the "whirring" noise which appears to be originating toward the front of the vehicle. Sound grows during acceleration and slowly tapers off while decelerating. It not incredibly loud but now I'm subconsciously listening for it so it bugs me. But today I heard a new noise. Best description I can give is that it sounds like a groaning noise, or slight grinding sound. I get minor vibration in the pedals but nothing major. It usually starts at about 50mph and acts much like the whirring noise as it tapers off during deceleration, best I can pin point is that it appears to be coming from the front right. I haven't been able to do a full check as its been around -12 degrees out here lately. All sounds appear to be front originating. I'm new to jeeps as this is my first one. Mileage is around 185k.

Chances are pretty good the right front unit bearing is bad. They're pretty simple to replace and not too hard on the wallet if you go through www.rockauto.com.

That would be my guess as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. When you say right front unit bearing, do you mean the wheel bearing and hub assembly?
