Default 2000-2500 rpm in park?!?

OK, this morning my wife goes to leave in the ZJ ('97 GC 4.0 Auto) and it only clicks. I go out and tap on the battery cables and it starts right up, but now it idles between 2000 and 2500 rpm in park! What is the deal?!?

You need to talk to Willys55 (Russ), as he's the ace on ZJ's and the one I go to when I need help. He's not on everyday but should see this. I'd PM him though for quicker response.

Ok, thanks.

I'm thinking IAC value, but it would be nice to have an expert opinion.

Yeah you can throw parts at it and still not fix it. Russ is an Ace. Send him a PM in case he doesn't see this thread when he logs on. He drives a truck and isn't home as much as some folks. It might be a day or two before he gets on. He might get an e-mail notification when he gets a PM, I don't know.

I betcha iac has to relearn cause battery went dead. Put it in drive at idle for around 5 min, should relearn it.

I'm afraid if I put it in drive at over 2000 rpm I'll go through the back of the garage. haha

I would pull the negative out for a min and reconnect. Computer could be stuck on "high" due to power loss.
