So I found a torn CV Boot while getting this ZJ prepped for inspection.
I also notice a 'high frequency' type of vibration really noticeable at high speed ( 70 MPH )
Was going to just replace the boot, but now think the CV joint may be bad.
It looks like I can get both driver and passenger side CV joint/axle from AUTOZONE for around $150.
Autozone Part Numbers ..... Duralast Reman CV Axle 9107 and Duralast Reman CV Axle 9108
I'd like to attempt the installation myself, I feel competent enough to do so.
I cannot find any detailed write-ups on how to do the job so I would like to know if there are any special tools I will need. ( read somewhere about needing a 12 point 1/2" socket ) Is there anything else?
Also any feedback on the Duralast parts???
THANKS!

What you need the 12-point socket for are the three bolts that hold the bearing hub to the steering knuckle. I screwed mine up trying to up a torx socket and replaced them with standard Grade 8 bolts with heavy washers. You may need heat to loosen them. I used MAP gas. I was replacing the hubs anyhow, so I wasn't concerned about frying them.
Mine were u-joints, so I have no experience with Duralast parts. I could tell you about NAPA parts.
