I have a 1998 Jeep that’s been with four mechanics now including the dealership. Three months ago the fourth mechanic figured out that it was the crankshaft positioning sensor. This was after the cylinder and wiring, idle control, battery, and much more were replaced. They all said the CPS was good to go, it wasn’t. Anyways, my friends son who is a mechanic (before the fourth one) thought it was maybe the ignition switch. He replaced it and then kind of just gave up on it, leaving the cover off etc. This was once he couldn’t get the vehicle to run, knowing then it wasn’t the ignition switch . I had the vehicle towed to the fourth mechanic’s shop the next day. I was stoked to see my vehicle working but the windows, radio, and wipers weren’t. I asked the mechanic and he said that he wasn’t aware there was a problem with them, checked the fuses and said it all looked okay, that I could leave it etc. after a $500 bill to replace the CPS I wasn’t going to have him work on it. Over the last week my battery is dying if I don’t drive it in 24 hours and has to be jumped . I noticed the ring around the ignition key slot is always illuminated green when it’s off. It’s not illuminated when it’s on.The windows etc all work when the vehicle is in the accessory and occasionally will randomly work when driving. I hear them just kind of turn on with a quick buzzing. Does anyone know what the issue could be? I’ve spent around $2,000 and 8 months on this and I’m losing my mind. Thanks, Jenny!
