I'm a new member is my first post and I'm new to the Jeep world also!
I was diagnosing some problems with the steering on my jeep and although it needs a track bar the after market add on steering stabilizer pictured it is also leaking. I can't find any replacements that look similar online...which leads me to believe it probably isn't correct for my jeep does anybody have any ideas?

Reason: I reworded the stab cylinder description
This being said....it does have the original steering stabilizer in its stock location as well... I'm assuming someone added this to try to compensate for the track bar being shot...?
Looking at it...I would think it should be mounted on the straight part of the bar... But still cannot find anything to reference it to anywhere online
That definitely looks like an aftermarket. My '97 GC, which I'm sure is nearly completely original, doesn't have one that looks like that. But mine is a 2WD.
I don't think I've ever seen an original part painted some fancy color like that.
Oh, maybe I worded my question wrong..I know it's aftermarket.... I was wondering if it is a correct optional add in part for my jeep... and if so who makes it? If not ill just pull it off cause it's prolly doing more harm than good.
Looking at your picture, I'm thinking the tierod looks bent! Shouldn't it be straight where that aftermarket steering damper is bolted on? IDK because I don't have my ZJ to refer to anymore.
All a steering damper is supposed to do is cancel kickback from hitting a rock or other stuff with one wheel so it doesn't jerk the steering wheel out of your hands.
The connecting tie rod on the 4.0l grand cherokee is straight.. the 5.2 one is bent.... I double checked at the parts store and the new one's look identical to the tie rod pictured.
The odd thing is the added on steering stablilizer... I'd just buy a new shock for it but none of the number cross over to anything!
All you really need to know is max stroke, compressed length, and mounting type and any manufacturer can match it up. The rubber boot can be found separately. Look at some off-road supplier's websites and you may find a stabilizer that matches.
My advise is remove that one AND your original one, go to jeep4x4center.com and buy a HD off-road unit to replace both in one unit.
