Default 1997 backfire through intake and exaust over 1500 rpm

Hi, I have a 1997 grand cherokee Laredo 4.0 4x4 that idles great, but won't rev over about 1500. It backfires through the exaust and intake when I try. I've tried new cap, rotor, pick up coil, crank sensor and new pcm I love the jeep, but it's driving me crazy trying to figure this out any help would be much appreciated!

Check the TPS for smooth resistance change throughout it's range of motion.

Have you done any actual diag besides throwing parts at it? Dave gave great advice, check the TPS. A faulty TPS can cause similar issues to what you're experiencing.
