1996 jeep grand cherokee laredo ? heater controls
v8 5.2 l with 228506 all original except the intake manifold. well i hopped in the truck today i only run it and drive it around the block here and there i live in ct its cold ? i have done alot to this truck still waiting on parts from rockauto for stupid stuff but i try face lower and its not working ? heater is hot get heat just not blowing in certain directions any ideas before i decide to rip the dash apart the truck is my sisters she cant drive it till i completely fix it

well i dont think its the door i think the control broke cause i can turn it completely around like round and round so yeah

I believe access to the heater controls is simply a matter of popping off the bezel and taking out some screws.
I'm sorry, I just checked my Haynes manual and it requires removing the glove box for access to 2 screws plus 2 in the front and the ash tray.

o ok yeah thanks i check the all data yeah this is gonna be fun this sat to take it apart cause i'm gonna look at it and see if it is then go to the junk yard to rip one out i did a neon long time ago with the same issue and found the cable had snapped i think thats what happened to this

Actually, it's a vacuum valve that controls vacuum motors on the heater. When you take it out of the dash, there will be a large rubber plug on the back with a bunch of hoses on it.

just looked it up in mitchel, no vacuum, all electric. Also you can pull codes from the control head to determine the fault.

common problem is the mode door motor, which I think you can access without to much trouble. It is directly behind the dash center support bracket( behind the VIC. Small 7mm or 8mm screws holding it in. I can't copy and paste from mitchel, I would have to print it, the scan it.....would be hard to read if I posted it after I scanned it.
