1996 Grand Cherokee Coolant Sensor Bad
I have a 1996 Grand Cherokee 4.0, coolant sensor bad light comes and goes, Local mechanic checked sensor and all connections, says everything looks fine, I have replaced sensor twice (problem not solve) Any suggestions????????
Yeah, had the same problem. After replacing the sensor and still getting the same error message i did some research on this board. One of the members actually figured out that what causes this is a bad solder connection on the back of the VIC.(the readout that tells you if you're in 2 or 4 wheel drive or door open, etc.) I must say I was a little sceptical but after running out of other things to try,I gave it a shot and its been about 6 weeks now with NO "COOLANT SENSOR BAD" MESSAGE. Apparently the bad solder joint causes a break in the circuit which causes you to get the message. Search the board,he actually has step by step instructions w/pics. My hat goes off to him. Good luck.
