Default 1996 Gr Cherokee Radio help

Hey guys - any and all advice would be appreciated on this. Just bought a 96 limited Cherokee and the AM radio doesn't get any reception. A few of the FM ones don't come in either. Again, advice from the simplest to the hardest would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Maybe the antenna is unplugged from the rear.

If it has a factory radio unit, it may have gone bad. I just replaced the unit in my 95 ZJ because of a similar issue. The LCD panel went bad so I never knew what station I was on, and then reception/audio would sometimes just stop and then start up again randomly.

Either the antenna plug came unhooked in the back of the radio or your wiring for the antenna is messed up somewhere. Easiest thing to try first would be to remove the radio and check the plug in the back. I just put a cd player in my 93 GC and theres 2 philips head screws above the radio holding in the wood grain panel, 2 ph screws above or below the ac/heater controls and then you need to pull out the ashtray and theres two more ph screws behind it. Then you pull the wood grain trim off and theres two bolts holding the radio in. Remove the two bolts and pull the radio out.

if all leads are attached at the back of the radio....then there is a connector at the antenna under the fender to check - could be lose or disconnected...
