Default 1996 GC 4.0L tranny help!

Hello everyone! I've scoured the internet since yesterday and I've not found a solution to my problem. I changed the fluid and filter in the tranny the other day. Dropped the pan, pulled and replaced the flat paper/cardboard filter. Put new gasket on, put pan place, and filled it up with too much fluid. I was told it would probably take 7 qts. I realized my mistake AFTER I started the jeep and put it in gear. I didnt not move anywhere in any gear. I turned it off, got a siphon pump, and pulled out roughly 4 qts to get it to where it needed to be. When I drained the pan, my drip pan was nearly half full, which is why I originally stopped at 6 qts. So, fluid where it needs to be, I let the Jeep warm up while sitting in Neutral. I then try D and it takes a few seconds with higher RPMS, to get it to go forward. I put it in reverse and nothing. I try giving it a little gas, still nothing.
Any suggestions on where I go from here to try an fix this? I don't have money to take it to a shop, but I'm fairly mechanically inclined.
