So i just bought a 1996 grand cherokee 5.2 liter about a month ago. it ran fine and all when i bought it, now however it has momentary lapses in power. When you first start the car and the first 10 minutes of driving, it runs great. after tens mins it will hold the speed limit just fine, however if you go to pass or climb a hill, the car will shut off, then surge with power, then shut off. the longer you drive the car the more prevalent the issue becomes. last night on the way home from about an hours drive it was difficult to maintain any speed over 30 mph. im assuming the fuel pump is going bad, anyone have any other suggestions?
