1993 Cherokee Major Problems..Please Help
i'm brand new to the forum and wanted to start off by saying hi and it's great to be here...i've been having some major issues with my 1993 Grand Cherokee Limited 6cyl...generally in the morning when i crank it up and drive it into work, it runs like a dream..however, anytime after that when i get in it to go to lunch or go back home, it starts to spit and sputter and shake like it's about to die...on occasion, when i've been going down the road, it has completely shut down and then a few seconds later while still rolling, it starts back up again w/o me even turning the key..i've never experienced somehting like this before..does this sound familiar to any of you guys? any help would be greatly appreciated

Check and see if any trouble codes are stored. Here's how you can do this yourself.->Jeep Horizons :: View topic - Jeep Computer codes (OBDI & OBDII)

so here's where i am so far and what's been done:
crank sensor replaced
mapping sensor replaced
coil replaced
pickup coil replaced
swapped computer out
new injectors
i took it to the local jeep dealer and he ran a system scan on it and he
said basically that it didn't show anything...
i'm beginning to think it has to do with the exhaust system b/c my cat conv has been rattling around for like the lat seven years...would the symptoms i posted above sound consistent with some kind of exhaust failure? thanks for all the help thus far

If the cat was clogged it would not restart on it's own......You need to look for a broken ground. It sounds like you have a bad ground for the computer...that would explain the sudden( restart without the key) All your parameters are staying in place so when you loose the ground the engine dies but as soon as the ground is restored the engine suddenly comes back to life. By the way loose grounds never set check engine codes or freeze frame codes. Check on the passenger side of the engine toward the back. There is also a primary ground that goes from the firewall to the back top of the engine.
