Default 18 inch rim upgrade on ZJ

I've got a '97 JGC Tsi, and I'm looking to do a rim upgrade to 18" from the factory stock rims. I think its 5"X4.5" (114.3mm) bolt pattern with a 20mm offset and 5.5 backspacing. Any suggestions on what I need to look when purchasing rims? Or, has anyone done this upgrade? Do I need spacers, adapters, etc.. Please advise. Thanks.

Why not? Its his Jeep.....
As long as you come close to the stock overall tire diameter and stock backspacing, you wont have any issues. Tirerack or discount tire can give you good info on upgrade dimensions......rim width, backspacing, ect. Ive seen Grands on 20s so it can be done. Not something I would do personally but it is YOUR Jeep.

the stock backspacing is 5.25", at least XJ wheels are but I think ZJs are as well.

I wasn't being a smart ***. I was really asking why? If there is a benefit for using a larger wheel as to using a smaller wheel

Ability to fit larger brakes?

I'd do 20s.
