Default 07 3.7 Grand Cherokee Gas Gauge Bouncing

This morning on my way into work my gas gauge decided to get erratic. It constantly bounces back and forth between full and empty. I got a CEL but havent had time to scan the code yet. Right now I am just trying to find out of this is a common problem like a lose or corroded wire that I can easily track down and fix or a bigger problem the involves dropping the fuel tank. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I would look at the wire that runs to the guage at the tank. An open circuit will show empty and a grounded circuit will show full. It's possible you have a broken or pinched guage wire. I'm not certain but I think the fuel pump and guage wires go through the floor pan with a grommet. The actual voltage in the guage wire is less than 1 volt and is very susceptible to bad connections. It may even be a bad ground. When tanks were steel, this was a major reason for fuel guage problems.
