i have a 4.0 grand cherokee. i usally have to stop and reverse, which is not very convence because i need 4wd in tow nbut have to drive the hwy to work. but more now days the jeep will not come out of 4wd very easy. i use to just back up few feet and it would come out but now i have to back up a long ways and it still wouldnt come out. and the ndriving the way to work it mighgt come out while driving. my thing is why to you have to put it in reverse 1st of all. i had a zj and i could put it in 4wd to 2wd and it never gave me a probl;em and i never had it give me a problem like this. my old 98 chevy 2500 had a problem kinda of like this and the accuator was bad and it fixed it nd never had the problem again. is there a fix for this or do i have to just keep reversing and hoping it comes out. and if not just let it eat and replace parts as they are toasted.
