Hi all. I need to replace a front axle shaft, but the parts store wants to know the length. Is there a way to identify the correct part without having to pull the shaft? I'd rather have the part ready when I take everything apart. I'm guessing Jeep used two different front axles. Thanks for any help.

 

My latest research suggests the axle length differences are due to having a Vari-Lok in the front diff and a 247 QuadTrac transfer case. I have the SelecTrac, with the 242. Am I on the right track to identifying the correct axles? Thanks.

 

For the record, the QuadraDrive uses the VariLok differential.
