I raise a glass to the shredder, same here. Plenty of Craigslist ads and parts vehicles to ****** the big parts from. I wanna get another block to build a proper stroker, it's odd but I like the 6 banger for it's torque, like a tractor you can drive to the mall or plow the field with.

Unlike my small block Chevys, the Jeep 4.0 lives below 3000 rpm. That's why they last so long. My WJ will haul 3/4 ton without breathing hard. You only notice the weight when cornering and stopping. Every Thanksgiving I put that much newspaper in it.

Update. The motor quitting was due to a new fuel pump connector being not water tight and I missed that little fact during install. It got wet (wet when I took it apart), corroded and overheated 12V+ pin (blackened). My fuel mileage average has increased from a flat 16 to 17.4 mpg and it's still climbing. Problem never was the CPS. The motor is now sporting a new fan with clutch with a FlowKooler, Robert Shaw 330-195 thermostat and green coolaid. It's overkill right now but won't be once I stroke it....... Motor stays at 195* no matter what, from idle to 80mph. The hinky fuel pump connector wasn't providing full voltage, was causing a lean condition and that generated excess heat. The aftermarket BWD CPS was extremely weak, wouldn't pick up a screw driver bit or a flat washer. The old Mopar CPS magnet lifted my keys, still strong as ever. I did go with a new Mopar CPS off of Fleabay - $97 with free shipping and I now have a spare as well as the original fuel pump..... The Heep sat in the garage for awhile as unreliable. Just sorted it out and am driving a reliable vehicle once more....... my winter beater just acquired three more seasons.....
