Got the stretch done for the most part just waiting on some bolts to come in for the hangers and Monday I will measure for a new drive shaft and get my brakes hooked back up. I'm really happy with the look of it I couldn't get that accurate of a measurement but I gained 8 or 9 inches in the wheelbase. The hangers stick out a bit which concerns me and I'm afraid flex will be limited by the bumper but well see how it all works out, once I get the drive shaft I'll take it to work and sit the rear on a fork lift and see how it all works and measure for some shocks at the same time.

 

Got it on the road last week which was awesome. A local shop made me a drive shaft which took a couple days because they had to order new tube but while I waited for that I picked up a brake hose off of a dakota which is 6" longer than the xj's.
Went to Firefly over the weekend with some friends and came home to my new shaft threw it on and took her for a spin.
did some flexing at home for kicks and giggles today





Tomorrow I'm going to get the e-brake hooked up with the new brackets I made. Sometime this weekend I want to measure for shocks in the rear and plan a way to mount them. Probably make some bumpstops, the bumper isn't getting in the way of flex which is nice as soon as the leaf springs hit the bumper they are completely flat.

 

comp cut looks good, i cant believe that with the rest of the setup you havent installed an sye yet!!! what are you gonna do for the front fenders? gotta keep the square headlights?

 

Thank you, I never needed the sye when I first lifted the jeep so now with the longer wheelbase the angles of the drive shaft are only getting better. No vibrations or problems so gonna save that 200-300 dollars for something else. Once I get the jeep repainted which will hopefully be soon I'll finish up the cage and make flat fenders for upfront. Square Headlights will stay for now.

 

Holy progress batman! Jeeps lookin' great! Those tires seem tiny now with those huge wheel openings... rubbing will never be your issue though ::

 

Took some measurements for shocks by flexing on some stuff around the house. Rear tire fully stuffed measured 19.5" and fully flexed was 29". For the front fully stuffed was 16" and flexed was 26". I need to take away an inch or so from the measurements because I haven't made the mounts yet. I figured out how I will do it in the rear just haven't bought some tube for it, going to use 1" tube for top mount. Probably going to pick some tube up tonight for it. Not going to do anything about the front shocks for a bit because I will probably make hoops for them just measured to see what it was.

 

Saturday I ordered some 5125's for the rear. Hopefully shocks will be in soon, I made up mounts for them and all that they need is to be welded up. This is pretty much it minus the 5125's and lower mount .

I also put KM2s back on and they just look so wimpy

Worked on it all evening and night just now finished. I put on black magic brakes and pads, bilstein 5125's, refitted the fuel cell, and put the creepy crawlers back on to go wheeling this weekend. Fingers crossed I can go wheeling got most of everything done but still a slight chance I won't be able to make it. If anyone In the area is interested the plan is to go to rausch creek this saturday.
