flex is overrated. stability is where its at. i did it once before, and liked how it wheeled compared to coils. very predictable.

i also go thru track bar ends and flex joints like underwear.

dont let this turn into a debate on coils are better than leafs. i know how to properly setup leafs springs to get very good flex......just wait.

a guy i used to work with is running leafs on his rock race buggy with very good results.

I was just curious.

you're doing a rear located shackle for the front leafs right?

nope. shackle up front. there is really no benifits to going shackle reversal. im not here to debate this either. i have built entirely tooooo many jeeps in my day. ive had alot of setups to run. this is what i like best.

if i put the shackles in the back, the leafs would be at a huge angle. putting them up front gets an almost flat spring(from eye to eye). this is what you want. plus i would have to buy a high travel driveshaft....this is a budget buggy.

i have run shackle front and back on a couple yj's i have owned and only had troubles running the shackles out back. my drivshaft came apart every now and then and it made my pinion do wierd crap. no reason to complicate things.

to each there own i suppose...
Like he said he has built a few jeeps and he knows the proper set ups. im building a xjtruggy as well and this is a build thread not a debate thread.

and you can build a rear shackle setup to have the correct leaf angle easily.

and a long travel driveshaft is a small price to pay for all the added benifits. and for a strickly trail rig (like im assuming this is). fabbing a long travel shaft isnt hard.

every shackly reversal i have done has performed much better on a lifted vehicle. but, if you were in a stock leaf sprung vehicle then i could see a shackly reversal not helping. for a trail rig, it is hands down a better option

to each there own i suppose...

and like i said......THIS IS NOT A DEBATE. Its a build thread. i explained why i personally chose the way im doing it. if you want to debate, go start a thread in the tech section. im trying to keep this a build thread only.

I have been busy doing house work and workin on a new bumper for my dd xj. Getting back on this jeep tonight.

I was gonna buy new doors for it, but I think i have decided to build some half doors out of the ones I have for now. That's $200+ I don't have to spend. I keep loosing motivation on this thing cuz its so damn far from complete and my dd 2 door would make a real nice chop top! Haha.
