I thought you were in business or something with the name and the BA projects you create. You must be a very thorough electrician if your hobby is as good as this.

Anyway

Oh and the bends in the bed boatsides made me think metal brake...

no i used to work in a fab shop, but it killed my hobby.

all those bends are flat steel welded together.......no bends.(im just getting real good with a grinder) the only bends are with the conture of the jeep. it gets narrower toward the back.

thanks for the compliments, i spend alot of time on this stuff.

my elec work is by far, way better than my fab skills. i grew up around that stuff and have been playin with it since i can remember. i like what i do for work these days and i take pride in my work.

so far, here is what i have into the jeep.

xj body-pretty much free
comanche cab-$40
hp d44 and spare shafts-$100.33
bed material-$36 (most was scrap i had)

so far-$176.33 into the build. i will add 3-5% at the end for consumables.

the more im looking at it, i think that 3-4 grand i plan on keeping this build under, is WAY more than doable.

woke up this morning and cant move! i did something to my back when pulling that d44. i have had a bad back since i was 17, so i will just have to rest up a bit. gotta feel better so i can finish helpin djlarroc with his zj on saturday.
good deal on the spending, and sorry to hear about your back. rest it up. if u need help pulling that 9" sat, i'm game.

That's why I keep my Jeep project at my parents place. Closest neighbor is a 1/4 mile away. They've got a huge garage and I can't even think about getting my Jeep in it.

Hopefully your back is feeling better. Mine's aching from installing my Roof basket by myself yesterday.

so, my tire size my be increasing........found a set of 39.5 inch iroks for super cheap. gonna check em out today.

if i do go up to 40's, i will be buying a set of rcv axles to slap in my d44.

http://www.rcvperformance.com/store/catalog/index.php

this would suck up ALOT of my build money.....but would def be worth it running anything bigger than a 37 on a d44. still pushing the limits of the d44, but whatever! with a d60 housing costing $900+ and my d44 only costing $100 with spare shafts, i will just beat the crap out of the d44.

so i decided to pass on the 40's. i think it would create more havoc than needed.

shooting for 38's.

on a side note, my back is all better for now. finished up djlarrocs la upgrade yesterday, and he was nice enough to bring a creeper over for me to use. HOLY CRAP! i should have had a creeper for the past 12 years!

i will be back on the build monday.

had a giant honey-do list this past week. finally got to work on the rat jeep again yesterday.

got alot of unibody plating done.

also got the ford mounts cut off my hp d44.

ripped off the front clip.

built a new front cross member/leaf spring hanger.....

i had been on the fence for the past couple weeks on what kind of suspension to run. i decided it gets leaf springs at all four corners. i go thru track bars and flex joints like underwear, so i want less wear parts. i've done it to a comanche back in 2000, and wish i would have never gotten rid of that jeep!

progress pics tonight.

little late, but here is some new pics.

got some work done on the bed.

tube is nice and tight to the bottom of the top half of the cab. im making the bottom half removable. bed caps are nice!!

mmmmmmmm.

unibody plating and front leaf crossmember/bumper base.

money is tight at the moment so im trying to wrap up some free stuff for now.

my computer took a crap on friday, so i had to go buy a new laptop.....and printer......and sound system.....and yeah, i blew all my money!

need to get my garage mess cleaned up too. thats free.

gonna finish up the unibody plating for the rear, front leaf hangers and rear shackle relocation brkts this week. also plan on finishing the bottom half of the cab. almost time for some body filler back there!!
