Default the xjuggy cheromanche rat rebuild

i have a jeep that was on one tons and 40'' irocks that was abused beyond what any jeep should go thru. i sold the axles to build another jeep and ended up selling that to build another. well the last one i built, is way too nice to go beating up, so i decided to rebuild the beast i already have and keep the nice one for my dd.

here is what im starting with. it had been rolled on its side and the rear quarter was all kinds of smashed, so it was the first to go.

i was planning on replacing the rear quarters, but then had a thought. i love comanche's, why not make a four door? so out came the grinder and sawzall.

so i went to the junk yard in search of a comanche. 1 hr, 2 blades, and two batteries later, i cut the roof and back of the cab off a comanche. when i went to pay for it, they didnt know how to ring it up and they just charged me for the glass.....$40

i have started a new custom boatsided bed but dont have any pics yet.

much, much more to come, so stay tuned if you like watching other people blow their money away!!!!!!!

oh, and all the doors and front clip will be getting changed to 97+ or waggy....still undecided. and if your asking, how is this an xjuggy? just wait! and the "rat" theme will come out in the paint scheme.

I've wanted to do this type of build for a long time. Can't justify cutting up the Comanchee just yet. Still a decent cab on mine. Looks good so far. I'll be watching this one.

it should be an interesting build to say the least.

just got back from the junk yard. got a big bearing high pinion dana 44. this is the d 44 you want if you are gonna run one. has 1/2 thick axle tubes. came from a 1976 ford f150.

the jeep is a 92 i think....haha

i forgot to mention......im trying to keep this build under 3-4 grand......it needs a tranny, t-case, rear axle, front and rear suspension, roll cage, wheels, tires, high steer..........im sure i can make it happen! even with buying a bender......unless someone wants to rent me theirs when their cage is done........ will get some pics of the boatsided bed progress and front axle here in a bit.

for tying your shoes. Velcro is my friend.

I thought you were in business or something with the name and the BA projects you create. You must be a very thorough electrician if your hobby is as good as this.

Anyway

Oh and the bends in the bed boatsides made me think metal brake...

running to the jy to pick up some front and rear springs and a ford 9 inch soon.

so far, here is what i have into the jeep.

xj body-pretty much free
comanche cab-$40
hp d44 and spare shafts-$100.33
bed material-$36 (most was scrap i had)

so far-$176.33 into the build. i will add 3-5% at the end for consumables.

the more im looking at it, i think that 3-4 grand i plan on keeping this build under, is WAY more than doable.

woke up this morning and cant move! i did something to my back when pulling that d44. i have had a bad back since i was 17, so i will just have to rest up a bit. gotta feel better so i can finish helpin djlarroc with his zj on saturday.
