XJ with Dana 44 mods?
i have a 89 xj with a front dana 44, we think its out of the early bronco ( 71 1/2 - 77). also has a toyota rear end, locked! My front end has the long ford radius arms on it, i have been toying with getting rid of those, and trying to do some sort of four link setup, im hoping for more flex. Is this something i should pursue or just leave alone? also, i was looking at changing the rear over to coil suspenson and four link as well, all for more flex, but i still want it to drive ok on the street as well, any opinions on these fabs, should i , shouldnt i, do the benefits out-weigh the fab needed????
one more thing, someone told me that i should look into putting a jeep front end back in there and going back to the short arms (mostly because the ford front end has been trouble for me), would that be a bad idea to go to the short arms? i thought the long arms were the way to go!

I like the idea of the long arms but I would need to see a pic if you can. I have the rubicon express long arm kit which completely got rid of the stock upper and lower control arms and moved the main pivot back to the trans cross member.. then the uppers are mounted off of the lowers.. then I was thinking about some teraflex revolver shackles but I hear they make for a lot of body roll on the road.. it would twist like crazy but sometimes you need that regidity to keep from toppling over in an off camber situation. pro/con.. long arms good but mounted far back.. and no revolver shackles until you have an exoskeleton to keep the glass in the windows in a bad situation.
Also, got back to the stock front end.. save for a super 30 kit and some axle seals.. the D44 mod guys want stronger axel shafts (and a stronger housing) but I think the super 30 will do just fine.. just keep it in 4lo..
my motto is throttle only gets you towed
good luck man

There is a guy on another forum from Mexico that has the Ford front end. He used the stock Ford links and then extended them quite a bit and put a spherical bearing (like a Johnny Joint) at the back. He has awesome flex. This is a simple solution. Also if you are looking for more flex, the three link is the most flexible. Four links will bind a little with too much flex.

is the 3 link the one that basically has the two parallel bars and on one of them there is a shortty running to the pumpkin?
also, i will get pics tomorrow, but mine also mounts to the cross member, which i hate.
