WJ Budget Build
So 200 for all the parts. and then 200 to ship it all... looks like a road trip to Connecticut is due. Itll be cheaper to drive 8 hrs then to have it shipped. Also didn't get my lift put on yet
I am actually looking up directions now on how to put it on then I'm gonna do it. The guy can't ship it to me now. But thats fine. Its only an 8 hr drive to pick up all that so I'll probably road trip within the next week
Performed surgery on the said of the road while she bleed out :/
Tranny fluid everywhere
All my transmission fluid gone
Blew the hose from the transmission to the radiator. Just replaced it on the side of the road

OK I'm very unorganized and keep starting a new project before finishing one. I decided to make a list (idea from reading someone else's build thread). Of things I want to get done.
- first things first put this 2" BB lift on for now, I want to go about 4" but budget is tight. Its been sitting in my trunk for awhile now. I was having trouble with rusted bolts and have been soaking them with pb blaster daily for about a week now.
- touch up the black paint on the trim and bumpers. I painted them all but some spots need touched up. I think one last coat all around will do the job.
- touch up the rest of the paint. Its all pretty chipped and scratched from the previous owner.
- look up mounting brackets for the brush guard, rear bumper guard, and nerf bars I am about to win on eBay. I have another day until the auction closes.
- invest in an aftermarket CD player and a wiring kit for the sub and amp I have to install. Its nothing crazy just one 12 and a 1000w amp.
- I'm looking for some kind of light bar with some lights, the brush guard comes with 2 so I'll have to look into wiring that up to a switch. Might make a switch panel so I can add additional switches as I add lights to my jeep.
- speaking of lights I think I am going to buy a set of halo projectors and an HID kit. And since my jeeps that maroon color I might get the 12000k so it'll be a purplish color. Thinking of picking up fog lights to mount in the stock location too.
- sand down my rims they're pretty corroded and paint them I'm going to do black and accent it with the maroon color of the jeep.
- look for new tires. My 2 back ones are almost bald so I think I'm going to go 265/70/16 or 265/75/16. What do you think? I want big, aggressive looking tires.
- look into bushwhacker fender flairs. I think they make the look.
- retint over the back windows and get the 2 front ones tinted. Maybe tint the tail lights.
- purchase the decals I want to put on the jeep. I'm going to go with a zombie response theme.
- CB radio
Wow this list is a lot bigger then I was expecting. Lots to do! I'm sure im leaving out a few things, I'll add them as I think of them. Maybe today if it doesn't rain i will work on some of this list.
Also I see a lot of mods for xj's and what not for performance like injector swaps and what not. But nothing is ever posted for wj's are there mods like this for the wj?

Omfg! So yesterday at dunkin doughnuts getting a coolata (delicious) and my radiator cracked in the same spot as before. That's the 3rd one that's cracked in. The same place in 6 months. What could be causing it?
Well she was running for 4 days... Jeep started making a loud thud thud thud noise as I drive and shaking pretty bad. Came out of nowhere. I looked underneath and nothing appears to be broken. Its not drivable this way (at least I wouldnt think so with how violent the thud is) any ideas before I take her to a shop to get checked out?
Well this might be the last post in my build thread... I took it in for the noise to see whats wrong. And I told him to do a 1 over... turns out that my cylinder has a crack in it and hes talking about an engine swap... I cant afford that. So I she might be up for sale. Ill have to see what my options are tomorrow.
GOOD NEWS! kind of, lol. he hooked up whatever to my radiator to see if it was getting exhaust in it. and it passed his test. he thinks it just isn't bad enough at idle but a longer drives would cause the exhaust to seap through. but he isn't sure. also my cv joint is just fine. but my right inner seal on my differential is leaking. and my oil pan has a hole in it. =/ he tried getting me to pay 500 to fix that seal now, its not leaking too bad so I have a little bit of a while to research it and figure out how to do it myself.
Sucks to hear your WJ's got issues. I know that really takes a toll when you get bad news about expensive problems, especially when you're on a budget. Good luck tracking down another WJ'.
I decided to stick it out. I want to lift it anyways so ill have to replace cv joints. And ive already put so much into the jeep id feel like a quitter.
I am finally going to pick up my brush guard and nerf bars. Bad news he said he doesnt have any of the mounting hardware =/ I was trying to look up a website to order the mounting hardware but I cant seem to find any info on polar bear brush guards

Taking it in the morning to the mechanic. I cant figure out why shes overheating again. And shes leaking fluid bad. Its either tranny fluid or differential fluid everything under the jeeps soaked with it cant seem to find the source of the leak... hopefully this will be the last major issue. I bought her and I seem to have just been playing keep up so she was drivable. I can do preventative maintenance on her and fix problems as they arrise but its just been one huge issue after another. It drained my bank account so fast without even buying upgrades. Wish me luck.
Well I got her back... he tore apart my heads and checked for any cracks and did my cylinders too. Couldn't find anything he said he re-wired my fan since im having a wiring problem with it and it wont seem to ever come on. while he had her he said he noticed a hissing and turns out an O ring for an injector was bad. So he fixed that. Jeep runs much smoother no more puttering at idle and ive noticed an increase in mpg too. Like 2 whole miles. I was averaging 12.5 im up to about 15 now. So thats exciting. Did it all free of charge. I didnt think one O ring would have such a big effect on performance. Now the bad. I am leaking tranny fluid for sure I had him look. And its bad. I put some in yesterday to hold out until pay day when I can take a look at her. And try and fix it. And I still have my differential seal leak. Ive noticed a small hole in the exhaust. Its getting louder. And now my windshield wipers dont work anymore. Im sure its the switch. The back didnt work but now it does and the front ones quit now. Ill have to hit up the JY and grab a new switch. Other then that hopefully she stops breaking so I can finally have fun with her.
