The White Stallion Build Thread ['99 Cherokee S.E.]
Nice looking Chevy! Is that a "shocker" decal on the Evo? LOL, nice.
The tint I used on mine was pretty dark, but it isn't black. It's hard to see that in the shadow of the picture, but you can always use lighter tint for temp use. You can also tell that it doesn't lay real smooth, but it's not permanent and next time I'll use a hairdryer to help shrink the tint to form the shape. I also used it on my headlights for the angry eyes, and it doesn't hinder my lights when they are on. I'll probably keep them on there.

I also used Plasti-Dip on all the black parts on the body because it peels right off if I don't like it. I love the products that let you "test" things before you do things permanently!

Here's a pic of my old Chevy...

The Chevy was an 87. Last year of that body style for the 1/2 ton pickups, last year for true duals (I had dual single chamber flowmasters!), first year for TBI. Cannot remember for sure, but I think it was a GM 10-bolt front axle. The engine was a 350 5.7 TBI. I had a blast building that one... first motor I ever built! It was stolen before I got the chance to put my new headers on it though.

Thanks, man! The wheels are the stock "snowflake" wheels that came with the Country edition... not sure if it came with others. I've been back and forth between painting them black, or just getting new wheels.

And i like the truck, i bet it did work! Plus u gotta love the REAL duals; it HAD to sound mean!!

Anyways, heres some pics of the rock sliders. like i said before, the mounting looks a little bit skimpy for me but u gotta start somewhere i guess. haha
It consists of 2 mounting plates on each slider with 4 bolts on each plate and 2 'pinch seam' bolts on each side of the vehicle. it also has a nut&bolt on each support so i can slide of the sliders if need be w/out having to unbolt the whole thing...also seems kinda sketchy
WARNING: Lots of pics

Im thinking of adding probably 1 [or maybe 2] more braces from the slider to the frame; i was planning on bolting the mounting plate on the side of the frame and the bottom, so i have some bracing for upward pressure. wat ya guys think? any input? and u think i should be fine with (very firmly) bolting it to the slider or should i go wait till i can get to my welder sometime (hopefully haha) in the near future?

soo.. started to fab up some mounts for my sway bar disconnects tonight for when i...well disconnect them for wheeling lol; id say im about half way done. I went to home depot and bought: (1) 7"x7" angled wall mount L bracket for pictures or something and chopped it into (2) 7 inch pieces, (2) .5" x 2.5" metal pin/slug w/ multiple holes for cotter(spelling?) pins, and (2) .5" fender [oversized] washer. Im planning on bending, drilling, painting, and mounting it to the upper/front fender well area...we shall see how it works out, ill post a write up after i am done with the process!

If anyone has used this stuff before, let me know how it worked for ya and maybe post up some pics for me to check out.
Thanks for viewing everyone! Ill keep u posted!!

Thanks man! It was pretty mean sounding! It was actually louder than my old '80 Trans Am that had a 400 big block 6.6 with dual flowmasters (two chamber though).
I'm not an expert by any means when it comes to sliders, but yours look pretty good. The extra brackets surely won't hurt, and of course the best way to go is welding. I think yours will get the job done, and I think you did a great job on them!
We always love it when people fab their own stuff! There's a good thread on here for that and I'm sure they would love to see pictures and a write-up over there too. You could always put the write-up in here and post the link to it in the Homebrew section, too. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f58/ho...1618/index195/
And for your tinting questions... https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/vht-nightshade-48945/

haha ya it was pretty cold, and i didnt want the tinting paint to end up all crappy. and my mounting hardware's shafts were tapered all the way up, so it didnt really work the way i wanted it to; also, my 'pin' that the disco was gunna mount on had wayy to much play, so i went and got 2 collar's(?) to hold it tight in place.
