Default went from an XJ to a TJ

well as some of you may know I sold my XJ a few months ago (build thread in my sig) a few months after I sold it i picked up a MINT tj. but I really do like this forum a lot compared to some of the wrangler forums out there so I do still spend some time lurking around here as well as the wrangler forums even though I don't own an xj anymore

so heres the specs on the jeep
2005 tj sport 6 speed
42k on the clock when I picked it up
4 inch clayton long arms
AEV wheels
35 inch mtr's
genright fenders
bumpers front and rear with a WARN up front
currie steering
and some other little goodies

heres how it looked the day I picked it up
SORRY ABOUT THE HUGE PICS

I hated the full width bumper so I trimmed it into a stubby bumper and took those ugly lights off the bumper

after

since I have owned the jeep I have added a after market head unit, H4 housing's with 8k HID's, terraflex rear diff cover and tinted the windows on my doors to match the factory tint on the hard top.. I also have new speakers and some other stuff on order that will be here sometime during the week

Sweet TJ, I had a 99 & loved it. I agree with the stubby bumper, looks much better. Just watch out for trees, I'd hate to see those fenders dented. My 99 had both fenders dented on the front where the blinker are....

Very nice TJ..I miss my TJ which I sold to a good friend so I get to see it quite often. Nothing like the top down riding the back country enjoying life..

That's my biggest fear about these fenders. Being that they are aluminum you can't really fix them once they get dented

So never really ridden in a TJ any noticable differences between the two? I would guess the XJ has a smoother ride and is less noisy.

there is really no way for me to compare the two of them

my TJ is on a brand new clayton long arm kit so it rides awesome also having the coils in the rear instead of leaf packs makes it smoother. inside noise isn't bad at all. but due to the short wheel base it gets pushed around the road easy and if I hit it big enough bump it feels like the jeep bunny hops off the ground because the wheels being so close together they both hit the bump sooner compared to something with a longer wheel base.... if that makes sense

but my xj on the other hand was on a beat up short arm rough country lift and pretty much every control arm joint/bushing was bad and my headliner was ripped out as well as some of my carpets so it was loud as hell inside and it rode like a shopping cart.... but I do miss having the bigger trunk space and the 4 doors that my xj had

so as far as road manners and noise goes the TJ wins in my book. but as far as trunk spaces and rear seating room the XJ takes the win on that

Nice TJ. My dad just went from XJ to YJ. (Well he still has the XJ) I know now that I couldn't DD a wrangler. Waaaaaaay too small. I don't think my 4 y.o. daughter could fit in the back. However, they're pretty cool and capable.

I really like what you did to the bumper BTW. Looks a thousand times better.

thanks, the bumper isn't quite finished yet i still need to cap off the ends if I ever get around to it, but yea it is small but I can get 2 people back there if they aren't to tall. either way this TJ is a hell of an upgrade from my XJ so im happy with it. I cant wait to get it on the rocks and see what she can do
