Someone else talked about the initial extra height. They put some bags of sand in the back for a while.

If you go up too much it'll look top heavy.

That is very true. I guess I'll get a 1" spacer. I'll eventually upgrade the bumpers as well, so that will bring the heighth down a little. (But that is not in my short term budget.)

The person that loaded the backend made it sound like he drove it that way for just a few weeks.

I agree with DrDuktayp. It might look a little top heavy without larger tires.

I think mine is even higher in the rear and lower in the front due to bumper and winch. I'm gonna load up with something heavy in the back for a while.

I'll definitely be getting larger tires. Like I said before though, it's going to look like a scared cat for a while until I get the funds for new tires, which will be my next major purchase.

I finally got an alignment today. It is freaking amazing how much better it drives. I am actually looking forward to putting some miles on it now to hopefully get the suspension to settle.

I also bought new u joints for the rear drive shaft. I'm going to replace the fronts soon as well.

I replaced the drive shaft u joints today. It helped with the noises I was experiencing, but I'm definitely going to need a SYE. I guess I will be hitting the pull a part for a front drive shaft to use with the SYE. I will order it sometime in the next few weeks, but I'm not too sure on my skill set to tackle this project.

In other news, I bought a bow a few weeks ago. I finally got it set up, and now I need to sight it in.

I haven't been hunting since I was about 12. (I'll be 40 in a few months.) My son has expressed interest since my father bought him a bow for his birthday this year, so that means I'm interested now. Lol I told my son that we would go bow hunting next year, so that gives us time to hone our skills. Having said that, I also need to buy a shotgun since he now has a 410. Turkey season will be his first true "hunt".

Haven't been hunting much myself either, but I'm planning to change that next year. Going hunting with the kids is one thing I really look forward to when they get older (will be a while I guess since my son is only one year and four months and my daughter is not even three days old yet...).

After changing the rear drive shaft u joints, I have noticed a vibration from about 30-35 mph. I will get a SYE sometime, but I'm going to remove the front drive shaft to see if that is the source of the vibration. I don't think it is, but the u joints need to be replaced anyway.

I also noticed on someone else's build thread a way to use some sort of hooks as fishing rod holders. I'm going to do something similar, but I can't find the thread again for reference, and to give credit where it is due.

It's a good thing I removed the front drive shaft. (The u joints were dry as a bone. They weren't the source of my vibration either.) I guess I'll buy 2 sets of u joints so I can rebuild another front shaft for the rear for my eventual SYE. I may hit the pull a part this weekend for a spare shaft.

In honor of Veterans Day, thank you to all who have served.

I'm on the left. Taken in Wuerzburg, Germany in 1995.

I got in the xj this morning for the drive to work. The heat doesn't work like it should. I'm going to replace the water pump and fan clutch, as well as flush the heater core out again. Hopefully that will fix my heat and help keep the operating temps down. This is my weekend project.
