Yes, I could. I only bought the jeep for $300, I'd really hate to have to pay $150-300ish for a used 8.8, $200+shipping then another $200-250 for a cheap locker.
My buddys mustang GT had a 8.8 with a factory LSD, it spun both rear tires fairly well, and he had 12.5 drag radials on it (thus the poor attempt on the second burn out, those drag radials HOOK up big time after being warmed up.)
So why spend the $250 on a lunch box if I can pick one up with a good LSD and save some money?
I mean, if I cant find one with LSD yes I would settle for one with a open diff and put a cheap locker in it when I could afford it, but this is a xj being built on a budget.

Your best bet would be to find one with low (or lowest you can find) miles on it. Higher mileage ones usually are in need of replacement "clutch" pads and once warmed up start to slip a lot acting like an open diff.

As usuall had some fun with it.

Got a temp. bumper on it, cops had their pantys in a wad about me not having one.

Debadged the jeep the rest of the way, sanded nd primed everything but the doors and roof. I think another day of prep and it will be ready for some paint.

Im in the middle of buying a 99' mercury cougar off my buddy.. so my jeep funds are going to be empty tell I have the car paid off in a couple weeks. I figured its time to buy a good on gas DD.

picked up some pro comp es3000's for free. Not brand new, but faaar better then what appeared to be the shocks that came with the jeep when it rolled out of the factory... They should work fine tell i get to the lift hight I want, then the plan is billstien 5165's.

Looking to build a little JeepSpeed toy?
I bought the 5100s for my cherokee, but was looking at 5100/5165s for the wife's JK unlimited. However, the plan is to run the rough country shocks that are under here's till the funds for coil-overs comes about.
