Default Slow 99 XJ --My Daily Beater--

Well I finally got my house all taken care of (bought a home finally). So time to begin messing with the XJ I recently bought.
Bone stock, owned by an older lady.
Pictures the day I bought it:

Love this thing even if it's not the nicest car I've ever owned. Certainly among the most reliable though!
Only thing different from those pictures is that I took the side trim off and re-painted the plastic bumper caps (were faded). New sparks/New spark wires/Coolant flush(old fluid was super nasty, recommend doing it)/Ceramic pads and new rotors/oil changed to Rotella

Today I ordered the Putco headlight harness (Ebay $33)
Might buy the Rampage housings (not going to mess with the cheap alternatives/plastic housings) along with some decent H4 bulbs. To help me see at night, from what I've been reading the housings/Harness/H4 bulb combo really helps driving at night.

Future plans are
-Fix valve cover gasket leak
-Fix the speaker on my driver side not working
-Tint
-Brown Dog Motor Mounts
-D-Window rims
-New tires
-Lift (still ways away and not sure how lifted, leaning towards 4.5 RC kit)

Mostly maintenance things with some upgrades along the way. This is my daily so I can't go too crazy with it

This will be a slow "build" but I will try to post anytime I get some goodies. Thanks!

**Also ordered the Rampage housings** Now I can't wait to get these installed

**Also shopping around to get this thing re-tinted soon. The old film is not too bad, but it looks a bit faded and overall I want it darker**

**Here is the look I am going for. Nice wheels, lifted (not too crazy) and overall very clean**

If anyone knows what wheels are these on this Jeep post it up please!

They look like Crager "D" windows with simulated beadlocks.
They could be actual beadlocks as well.

Someone else will probably know for sure though.

If it will be your daily driver id open her up and let her breath some! Cold air, bigger highflow exhaust, and a chip can help a lot. Mines a 2wd cherokee and im getting 23-24 mpg highway.
Also if you figure out what the cause of the driver door speaker weakness let us know. I switched from stock to an upgraded set( theres a 4.25in pioneer in that door) havent been able to figure out why its so weak. Found a cracked wire in the door hinge and that helped a little. Im thinking it has to do with that speaker is the noise alert for the warning systems. I have my balances shifted so that that speaker sounds the same for now.

^^ Keep you posted, from what I've read the factory wires break from opening and closing the doors over the years. I will update once I actually do it myself. South, good idea, I am averaging around 17-18.5MPG right now.

**H4 Harness has arrived, will be installing it today with the factory sealed lights and Friday the Rampage housings with H4 bulbs will be going in**

Rampage Package showed up with only one light. Upon further reading of the Ebay ad, I realized that I indeed ordered just one........super angry/tard moment.......

Lol i feel ya. I went cheap and ordered a high po exhaust header off ebay for cheap. Had never done that kinda work so sent it too a mufffler shop they could not get it to stop having the exhaust leak. After spending enough money to have bought a nice reg brand header i pulled the header myself. Check the mounting surface for level...surprise! Super unlevel got a grinder leveled it slapped it on not a bit of trouble since. I was pissed that the specialty shop couldnt figure that out after multiple trips.... i figured that out as a 21 year old with no experience.......

I hear ya, sometimes you have to just do it yourself. The one Rampage headlight I have now is very well made, I can't wait till I get the other one and install them. Should improve the visibility and also they look great! Keep ya guys posted. Today I went shooting and the Jeep had no hiccups, love this thing!

Fake beadlocks are just about useless unless you simply like the look. I destroyed some MT bullethole fake beadlocks in a hurry on some easy trails. Get the Cragars without the fake BLs on them and save some money.

Good looking project you got

^^Thanks for the input fellas

I have my eye on these:
http://www.quadratec.com/products/92600_000X_P5__PG.htm

I love the fact that these are powder-coated and it's an order of 5. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that Cragars do not come powder-coated?

Rundown of parts price if anyone is looking to do the H4 upgrade:
Putco Harness -----------$32.53 (Ebay)
Rampage Housings --------$111.94 (Ebay)
Sylvania 9003/H4 Bulbs ----$19.34 (Walmart)
Total----------------------$163.81

Now waiting for the Rampage housing (other one) to show up before I finish the install.
**Keep in mind you can get cheaper housings but after I saw the Rampage ones I am glad I spent more and got these, very well built**

I have those rims, and I really like them. I don't know if the Cragars come powder coated or not though.
