"Silver Bullet" build
Hello everyone! So Ive been on the forum for a while now, asking questions and soaking up as much knowledge as I can for my build. Thanks to all of you for your infinite knowledge , and thanks to those whom I have had personal contact with; answering my many questions and getting me to this point. The time is now, Ill be starting my build this weekend. Here is a short list and a few pics.
As of today:
2000 Classic
4.0L
NP242 T-case
Factory Aisin-Warner 4 speed auto
Factory front and rear axles (D30 and Chrysler D35)
245/75/16 Wrangler MTR's on Moab wheels
140 something thousand on her as we speak, running like a champ
Have owned the the jeep for 7 years or so now. No real mods to speak of as of now, (aside from the current wheels and tiers) just basic maintenance through out the years.
What ill be doing this weekend:
RC 4.5 Lift with their X-flex adjustable control arms
Front coils and rear leafs.
Nitro 9000 shock. (planning on an upgrade before winter 2012)
Adjustable track bar
Upgraded steering assembly with new drag link and tie rod ends
hack and tap for the 242 t-case with a fully rebuilt front ds from a jy XJ
And she'll be running on 285/75/16 Wrangler Duratrac's
Also bump stops will follow once I have the lift in and can get a accurate measurement.
Thats the the plan for the weekend. I hope to be able to do several mods over time, but first things first.
Here is a pic of her stock. Dont have a current pic just yet (with the moabs the the MTR's) But I will take prior to the lift.

The Aftermath
The lift took a bit longer than I expected. Ran into a few snags. Unfortunately I did not take as many pics as I could have. Mostly because I was just trying to get the lift KO'd in a weekend. But here are some pics of before and after and a little bit on my "snags"

The Aftermath
I started by painting the control arms and steering assembly. Then I yanked the front end, cleaned it up a bit and gave a new paint job. Turned out pretty good I think.

Got the front end all back together. Ran into a few issues with the sway bar link pens. Ended up cutting them and drilling the out. No biggie really, just added to the time it took to get it back on the front wheels. Here is that all done. Not a great pic thou.

And Here is where I really struggled. The rear leafs! I ended up hacking them all up just to get them out. Once I realized the they were not coming out (the compression sleeves in the bushings were frozen to the bolts) it was a fairly quick process, but fought with them for a few hours before making the decision to start cutting.

And here it is as of today. Got some new meats waiting to be put on. Wrangler Duratracs 285/75/16. Should fit well and rid great. Going to need bump stops thou, but am also thinking of adding a leaf and a spacer to get an extra inch or so. Nothing has settled yet, so im sitting around 5" above stock ride. But once it dose, ill make the decision. Really do not want to trim. Think it looks the best with the stock flares. Anyhow, looking forward to many more mods in the feature, bumpers, tire carrier, roof rack just to name a few. Maybe half doors this summer! . But thanks for looking, hope ya'll like
