I've heard there is something out there better than POR and the retailer for Chassis Saver in Port Huron MI is no longer in business and the next one is way too far across your border for me.

It does seem to have limited availability. Can't find anywhere to buy it online, which just seems insane in today's age. There's a parts store right down the street from me that sells it apparently, I'll have to check with them.

Some pics of the 8.25 4:11 29 spline Eaton Detroit Limited Slip rear end I'll be installing soon.
Left Backing plate off
Trial fit of Liberty Disc brake backing plate! Fits wunderbar! Probably on wrong end. Just checking bolt pattern.
And a picture of the length difference of the two bolts that hold the backing plates to the axle. Can you guess which one is for the Disc Brake?

This is the Spring perch and Shock mount. I just used a grinder on the welds and a few whacks from a BFH and a clean axle tube.
Apparently all my parts have arrived in Port Huron. I wasn't planning on going to pick them up till the 27th of April.
Hmmmm Maybe I should start getting parts for the D30 I got last night. The one with the 4:11 gears in it already! For only $100.
It'd be real nice to get both axles replaced in one weekend.

No they were fine.
As it's lifted 4.5" I needed a SYE. I did the hack and tap back in January.
Still have some vibes because the pinion angle is not correct for the lift.
They're not bad, I've had it up to 80 MPH but I want it fixed. It'll take out bearings and Ujoints eventually.
So most guys put in shims to correct the angle. I figure for less than the cost of the shims shipped to me I can put on an anti wrap spring perch AND correct the pinion angle at the same time.
To give you an idea the 4° spring shims were going to cost me approx. $35 with shipping. Anti wrap spring perches were $35 shipped. Now I just weld them on in the right angle and never have to worry about them again.
I also know that the shock mounts hang WAY too low and get caught on stuff.
Hmm what to do? Well the axle would be twisted about 4-8° that means the shocks wouldn't be sitting on the axle pins correctly.
New shock mounts will correct the bolt angle AND give me more ground clearance. I'll be welding on new perches anyways what's a few more lines of welding?

This is what I am going for. Not mine but an image off the net.
Notice how much longer the perch is over the stock perch I cut off?
And notice where the shock mounting bolt is?

I don't have a welder YET. but I have a guy a few Km from me who has a shop and welder. I'm going to install the axle with the perches just resting on the axle. Put my springs on and tighten up the u bolts till snug. make sure everything is lined up, and angle is correct. then I'm going to torque down the ubolts. For the short distance I have to go it shouldn't move. Then I'll get my friend to weld a few spots to hold them in place, pull axle and let him do a good bead. We'll do the shock mounts at the same time.
I am, come hell or high water getting a welder SOON. I was in the welding business for 15 years and taught others how to weld. You'd think I would have a couple kicking around!

Well a little update.
Finally got the entire 4:11 front axle home.
Man it looks rough. Supposed to be a 99 axle um yeah right.
Did some digging and found that the axle was made in 1985-87 according to Spicer's bill of materials chart.
Cut off the knuckles at the ball joints and pulled the axles. I'm now thinking that I'll put the ring and pinion in the 99 axle I have.
Here is some Jeep **** for you guys.
Boy don't those Ujoints look small?
The 2 axles on my sawhorses
Man that axle end looks rough. I think this axle housing is going to the scrap pile.

and a little more
Wow this is a GOOD cover. 1/8" plate steel and a threaded plug!
Gear number match up and they look real good
Spiders and teeth are in excellent shape for being at least 26 years old
And here is where I found how old this axle really is. 1999 my ***!
Oh well for $100 I got a ring and pinion AND a proper carrier. Should be real easy to drop into my 99 axle

nothing new to report yet. Parts are piling up in Port Huron. Will make a trip over soon.
I need to get that rear end in at least. These 33's are killing my gas mileage!
Selling off a lot of stuff off my Black Limited. Even sold the headliner off my 2000.Got to have it out this weekend for the guy.
Good excuse to finish putting in the Overhead Console!
