Default Roblaza's 99 "build"

Well, i've been lurking for a few months now and figured that this is as good a time as any to start my "build" thread. It'll be a slow build, but a build none the less.

Heres what I started with:
99 Cherokee classic
4.0L Auto NP231 D30/D35

Bought for $2000 with 186,000 KM (roughly 115,xxx Miles)

1 month later and 3'' Lift (Zone with full leafs and shocks)

As you can see, the rear is about an inch and 1/4 lower than the front, and Zone has already replaced the leafs once in a bid to remedy the sag. I'm thinking shackles in the back to lift it up 2 inches and a 1 inch spacer up front to acheive a little more lift and even it out some more.

Future Plans:
784 Injectors (on route from Programbo)
1.5-2'' shackles (in the works)
1'' coil spacers
Crager soft 8/ D-window style rims
31/10.50 tires
SYE

That is an insane price...what was wrong with it?

Love the color...not too many of those around.

He was asking 2500 Certified and Emissions tested, when he took it to the shop to get the certificates, it passed the emissions with flying colours, but failed the safety because of both ball joints on the driver's side. He offered a deal, he'll do the work and get the safety for the $2500, OR he'll supply the parts and and I can take it as it sits with the emissions papers for $2000, AND he's already paid for the safety.

Brought it home, did the ball joints in the driveway and all I had to do after was get it to the shop to prove the work was actually done and pick up the safety certificate. DONE AND DONE. It was on the road, fully insured and plated by that afternoon. All the other stuff (fluids and whatnot) were "just done" according to the seller, but I did them all anyways for peace of mind along with a full tune up. I guess he was telling the truth because the fluids that came out looked bright and new. Better safe then sorry though.

Rockers were also replaces with new ones, and he included the paperwork from the shop that did the work. There is one spot that might be somewhat troublesome. The driver side 1/4 behind the bumper end cap has a hole in it... not sure where to go with that just yet though.

Also considering some Zeus Offroad lighting... Any thoughts on them?

Well...I found some cancer, meaning an interior gut and clean up this spring. I'm pretty excited about it. So to help sooth my cancer woes, I took my dog for a walk and found a small stump for it to rest on for a bit...

Somewhat of an update...

I ended up ordering an HD SYE (hack n tap) last week, and I picked up a front shaft from a 99 cherokee from the wreckers. I had to get the loader out to pick it off the ground to gain access to the DS, AND i forgot my 8mm wrench at the house so I made due with a pair of vise grips and channel locks LOL

Picked up some MOOG super strength joints today, and a ball joint/u joint tool that was on sale for less than half price, which I thought was a decent score. I'm going to b re and re the DS tomorrow and probably throw some fresh paint on it aswell...

IF anyone is wondering, MOOG super strength u joints (280's) are the exact same as the 369, the only difference is the placement of the grease fittng. The 369's have it located in the middle of the joint, where the 280's have them in one of the bearing caps. Otherwise the two are identical.

Nice rig! Curious...what's the cancer you found? I have a nasty rusty hole in my drivers' rocker panel and some between the doors. I plan on fully tearing up the carpet, POR-15'ing everything in site and repairing the hole with fiberglass body putty of some kind, and then Monstalining everything. Looks like yours might have had some rhino-type lining done at some point...can you elaborate on that bit?

Thanks man... The rust I found is behind the rear bumper caps. The lower 1/4's are rotting out on me so a cut and fold is in order I think....also found a hole the size of a baseball around on my drivers side floorboard that I need to plug up. The rockers and bottoms of the doors were replaced by the previous owner and he did the Bed liner on them aswell. It's just spray on stuff and needs to be redone as its starting to flake off in spots

I've been doing tons of research on this. Living in the salt belt ain't easy! Rust is my #1 enemy. Luckily, my floors are solid but due to a mysterious leak (fresh air cowl I believe) when it rains my passenger floor probably has more rust than meets the eye. A buddy of mine has some bad rust behind his rear bumper caps as well. I'll see how bad mine is once I take them off for the flare install.

I'm doing a cut and fold for my Bushwacker flatties, and going to tear out all the interior and prep everything, cut my fenders and prepare them for POR15 or Chassis Saver, tape off the doors and prepare them as well (same like yours are now), and go to town on it. Look into that stuff, and also check out Monstaliner. I have read nothing but good things about it -- but prep is absolutely key. Sounds like maybe your PO didn't prep as well as he should have or cheaped out on the material. Good luck!
