No SSB. 99% of the time it'll be used for convoys and trails, so I'm not worried about the extended range or the added clarity.

Don't be jealous
I couldn't find a place to mount before, but then I took out the carpet and two of those screws were spaced perfectly for the holes in the bracket. The mic is actually covering a hole in the plastic where the original owner installed a switch for the plow.
It has more features than I'll ever use. From my understanding, when using SSB, you can only talk to others with SSB. That may inaccurate, but like I said, I don't plan on using this at more than about 1/2mi range.

yup... you can only talk to others on SSB - but SSB has more range and is more reliable than the regular CB band.... just takes a little more fine-tuning to talk on it

yeah, that's one of the reasons I want to upgrade mine. This thing gets out great, especially with the 5' firestick - it's tuned pretty well. I get pretty close to a 1:1 match on the SWR meter... but I'd like one with more features like delta tune, weather, and I really like SSB... something like this - http://www.rangerusa.com/tre-966ffc.html
