Don't know my range yet. I tuned it next to a garage, so I need to do it again when I find an open area. Thanks for the tip.

yup... similar concept to a balum... this is also the thing to do if your coax is longer than you want it to be... a lot of people make the mistake of cutting the excess out of the cable and it throws the SWR's out of wack.

I would keep your 4' antenna though... I mean, I know you're only using it for convoys and trail rides, but a 4' will be better for range... you never know, one day you could be bringing up the rear and the trail leader is a couple of miles ahead, over a hill, around the corner and in the thick of a bunch of trees... would be nice to have a little more range, wouldn't it?

I've thought about that, but it just stands too high. If it was a whip, I'd leave it just as it is, but fiberglass looks funny that high. I measure at 103" clearance right now (just under 9ft), and that's just a pain in the city.

Just got home from three days at Rausch Creek Offroad Park in PA. Here's the carnage, and I'll retrofit action shots to this post once I get them from dukie564.

And let us all take a moment of silence to remember my factory spare. That 215/75/15 Centennial Canyon Climber from 1987 lived a long and devoted life until it was tragically lost in a puddle. Gone but not forgotten.

A bit of an understatement. My stock '88 on 30s, with swaybar connected, ran greens, blues, and a trail that the group agreed should have been rated black.

And I've just decided since pictures rarely show how steep angles are when offroading, I'm going to start tying twine or 550 cord to a few spots on my Jeep before hitting the trails so it will show where vertical is.

Also learned on the drive back that my temp light works now. Before I replaced my freeze plugs, my high temp light (idiot lights on my dash) would come on at the same time my coolant started boiling out. My light came on today driving through the mountains, we stopped for a few minutes with the hood open, and I never had any trouble from it. YAY!

Bought an aux temp gauge anyway so I can keep an eye on it. I just got my deposit back today from my old apartment, so I'll be ordering Dirtbound Offroad's 3-fan E-fan kit and a switch panel for my dash once the check clears.

And I'm still beautiful, with a wonderfully defined neck tanline. Definitely time for a shower.

Ouch dude... looks like you didn't hold back! Glad to see that old manche doin' it though! Any reconsiderations on shortening the bed now?

Thanks. I still don't plan on shortening the bed, but I'm more interested in the rear quarter cut and fold now. Once I get sliders and bumpers, I won't have any trouble.

96xjclassic noticed a bubble in my right front tire last night. I replaced it this morning, and I attached his 5ft Firestik for shiggles when I returned his jack today.
