I'm really contemplating getting an rke frob offline and seeing if the stealership will program it for me.
Im also wondering if the wiring in the door needs fixed (since only the driver window will roll the others down 80% of the time, and it will always unlock the doors but rarely lock them, whereas the passenger control usually works fine either way) if the RKE fob will work normally or if it also will be on the fritz. i really dont want to mess with the harness in the door...

Dang. I didn't even wash it very good (lazy and used the automatic wash) but i cant believe i ever thought the color was iffy.
She isn't taking the back seat completely, but i have a backyard i want to fix up before summer kick into gear. BEFORE summer, however, i should have the pile of goodies I've been sitting on installed, and a roof basket.
I hope i can get all the tar off the wheels eventually. In a ironic twist of fate, the county engineer "genius" who created that soupy tar nightmare seems to be in deep doodoo, as the sheriff dept and state auditors office executed a warrant at his office today.

Hey all, it's been a while. I'm not dead!
I just thought i would do a Public Service Announcement...
If you drop a socket into the Crank Sensor port in the bell housing, you CAN get it out with a magnetic wand, and by removing the flex plate inspection plate and starter.

I also want to say that, aside from the previously mentioned mess of dropping the socket into the bell housing, changing the CPS doesnt have to be that bad. I finished the whole job by myself and with sub-optimal tools.
>two ~12" extensions
>one 4" extension
>one pivot joint
>11mm socket
>3/8 Ratchet
After several attempts I found it was best to lay on the driver side perpendicular to the XJ, about directly under the transmission mount. there I could loosen the bolts and then managed to reach up and pull them the rest of the way out. Then just pulled the pigtail up from above.
Connect new sensor. lower it down, crawl back under, then reach up, align it with the holes and feed in the bottom bolt. Tighten that down with the ratchet. Then after deliberation, I used some tacky mounting putty to keep the bolt in the socket and then managed to feed it into the top hole.
If you get frustrated, take a break for a few days if possible and give it another go with a fresh outlook a different time. Thats what it took for me.

Well all this year (since Christmas actually) i have been dealing with assorted gremlins. I replaced the crank sensor which definitely helped, but that's not all of my woes.
Assuming I sort those out, I'm looking at replacing my headliner. Might be fun since I have a sunroof. I love said sunroof but sometimes I think having the full length overhead console would be nice.
Also, i'm waiting on a key fob that i sent off with my RKE board to have paired together. I'll post when I get that back and installed.
