Default Project TDWP - '98 XJ 4x4

So I've been meaning to do one of these for months now, but finally decided to cave in and start one when I set up my roof rack today. So here's my baby, a 1998 standard I bought from a guy off craigslist. He had a 4.5" Rusty's short arm kit with 3 inch spacers on 35"s that was killing the car, so we took away the 3" kit and properly put her on 33 BFG KM2's. Since then I've been workin and savin up for parts, as tons of things needed to be fixed and adjusted. The power window on the driver side wouldn't work, the AC's not blowing cold, the back hatch wont open...etc. I've done some of the work myself, but a lot of it's been fixed thanks to Southern Off-Road Specialists. I've got a good bit of pics, so bear (rawr!) with me.
Warning 56k'ers, big ol pics....

First up is the day we bought her.

Following that, we kept the 35"s for a couple days before reducing her size. RIP giant XJ

Before the lift was lowered, but with the brand spanking new 33"s.

And finally post-overhaul, with most of the problems plaguing it fixed. (most)

It's next to my cousin's stock Explorer, same year, but 2WD. sadly

Following this, I began work on fixing the broken window, which, as God thought was funny, always seemed to not work when a rain storm happened to roll in.

Me and some friends bought the regulator online, and quickly went to dissembling the door.

Following a rest and some Cokes, we then got to the back hatch, which was stuck shut. I regretfully didn't take any pics, but all we did was just pop the trim off the inside and literally beat the one little piece connecting the handle to the assembly until it would function properly . It's been working fine ever since haha.

The Cherokee came with the front two fender flares removed, but the metal foundations were still attached, and the rear two fender flares were still attached. I went to work taking them off one afternoon, as I was fed up with the imbalanced look. The bolts and screws were unbelievably rusted, so a ton broke or fell off when I applied pressure to them with the torque wrench. All in all, it was fun.

I should probably clean the rust, but at some point I plan on trimming them for better tire clearance (which I have absolutely no idea how to do ).

Got bored and took some pictures today, tested the flex for the first time, so that was eventful I guess.

With the Wrangler:

I need to trim these.

Next to a stock at the flea market.

Thanks, I love green too. My future plans right now are to get the roof rack set up when I can find time, put the Interco 33" spare I got for free on it, ratchet and chain it, and then tune her up for a Durhamtown run on Saturday. I'll probs do that tomorrow.

Well, finally added the roof rack from Rage Powersports, and plopped the spare up there for good measure. Made sure to ratchet it down and put a chain around it with a lock so it doesn't get jacked. (Atlanta, can't be too careful here.)

My friend and I working on it:

Ta da:

With the Interco spare:

I added a custom home made decal on the wind fairing. It's the emblem from the new album Dead Throne by the Devil Wears Prada I made with camo tape paper and scissors.

bump

Finally truly broke her in and went wheeling with a buddy of mine at Durhamtown Plantation in east Georgia. It was a lot of fun, especially it being my first real trip and it rained the day before. I didn't get too many pics, but anywho.

I quickly learned that I have to trim my fenders for the next ride, as the back tires were rubbing like no other the whole time!

We washed her today (thank god) and waxed her, so she looks good haha.
