Throttle Body and IAC cleaning!

This video inspired me to go out in the garage today:

Air intake tube off the TB, you can see the TB soiled itself

I love this tool!, seriously if your on the fence you will not have buyer remorse.

The TB's gunked up anus

Used CRC TB cleaner, great stuff (headache inducing, proper ventilation is key). Cleaned TB anus

Cleaned up intake side and flapper

Cleaned the TB's winky too (IAC)

Cleaned up bunghole where TBs winky inserts into

Fired the XJ up.....

Wow not bad! Significantly smoother idle. Not 100%, but damn good. I have new injectors waiting to be thrown in as well. That in combination with new plugs hopefully will do me right!

All together, fun little headache inducing project to do while the wife and son where at Panera Bread with her girlfriends.

Dummy didn't even bring me any food home. Now to the kitchen, to eat cereal out of the box with a spoon. Signing off.... stay tuned....

In other news:
The people who follow the "grinds my gears thread" in the off-topic section may already know about a shipping error I am having. For those who don't: my XJ is a 2001, which is prone to vapor lock AKA heat soak. So I ordered a kit from a company called DEI. This kit includeds a new intake heatshield, 6 injector heat wraps and a fuel rail wrap. The company shorted me a fuel rail wrap.

I purchased this kit though amazon. The order was fulfilled by autotrucktoys.com. Autotrucktoys is bomb! They contacted DEI and made them ship me the missing part. It's going to be here Monday! Good stuff.

I was going to drop the kit in next weekend with the new 784s. However, I just remember my dad and I are going to see UFO and Saxon. I'll see how everything goes. Maybe it will happen/maybe not. Cheers!

Perhaps, I go back and forth on it. I have one other fella interested in it as well. I really like the AJs Off-road Armor bumpers. I may get one of those. However, I probably won't get to that point until later this year.

Thanks for the interest. I'll keep you in mind.

Good job cleaning out all those orifices and poky bits. I need to do the same to my jeep.

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to use the word orifice.

hehe, any activity on my build thread is good activity as I see it. I kind of look at this page as my personal page on the forums, the more friends I have posting on it the better. Carry on gents.

You mean like this A-10 Warthog? Lol I'm actually a mechanic on these beauty's! This is my baby on a work trip in Alaska!

Nothing compares to the sound of an A-10 gun run.

Almost as terrible as the word moist in describing anything but cake or cupcakes.
