This sounds like a pretty good idea. In theory anyway...

Ha ha me a parsnip just worked it out, its possible if you welded a pully wheel to your yoke and had the yoke perfectly level you could run a belt to alt on a braket welded to the axle, the size of the pully is the key

That sounds like a great idea! Idk about draggin it over rox and logs and such tho. Might be better to run a shaft to a safer location, like where the t-case is sposed to go.

You couldn't balance it, you could also add a skid to the bottom of the axle and there would be enough room for the alternator under the body, run the wire inside to your battery and run the other to the frame of the trailer and if you could spin up the alternator at approximately 1000 through 2000 rpms you will generate enough electricity to run the vehicle pulling it lol but it could be a cheap fun project and you get to use the welder again lol

I could do a alternator off the rear end ( I have a mounting kit for that) but that will not do any good when it is parked on a 4 or 5 day trip.
And the easy thing would be to just run a wire on the tow vehicle we just ran out of time on the last trip.
And I usually take a generator with us when we go wheeling so that will keep it charged.
