Default Project: Sheep 97 XJ

So it all started when I got my license and started looking for my first vehicle, because I was sick of driving around my dad's toyota camry. I knew I wanted a lifted XJ so the search began...

It only took a year and a month until I found the one that I wanted. I wanted to move on it fast because I waited on a few others that I had found and they sold.

So at the end of october, I became the proud owner of a White 1997 XJ, with the country trim level, with around 131,000 on the clock, a little more than I wanted but I knew these things lasted forever. Pretty clean, some rust that will have to be taken care of, but good enough for me.

Here are some pictures (sorry for the crappy ones)

As you can tell it's alll white which is where my girlfriend got the name Sheep from. It bothered me a little bit so I decided that the first mod would be bedlining the bumper end caps and the side moulding.

Taped off and sanded down

Primed

I took off the bumped endcaps instead of taping them off and found this

UGH

I hung the end caps from the clothes line to bedline them

Bedlined, tape off, and all back together

Looks SO much better in my opinion, next what I wanted was some tunes, so I bought a kenwood headunit and some speakers.
Its a KDC-545u headunit and 5.25 speakers out back and 6.5's in the front

Sounds so much better

Thats all for now open to opinions and suggestions

Well I also forgot to mention that I also did a LED swap for the instrument cluster, HVAC controls, and both shifters. No pictures of that at this time, try to get some soon.

But the UPS guy showed up today!
He brought me my Rough Country 3'' Series II lift for my xj, they're only AAL though because I was tight on cash and I think I'll buy full 4'' packs next year along with some spacers.

Here are some pictures

It didn't seem to come with U-Bolts though, is this normal? I was expecting to see them with this but maybe I'm wrong, any thoughts?

If you're lucky (and don't snap the them when you take everything apart), you can reuse your u-bolts (that's what I did). If not, you should be able to get them at your local hardware store.

Alright thanks, I've already started soaking everything down with PBlaster, plan to lift it in 2 weeks. Hopefully 5 cans will do me over.

you should not re-use u-bolts they endure a lot of stress so whenever removed they should be replaced...and rough country isn't especially known for including u-bolts...besides their cheap insurance to keep your axle under the jeep

looks like someone painted your whole grille. I would tape it off and paint it how it was originally. I'm not sure how difficult that would be though.. but it would definitely match your other black pieces better.

looks good,
x2 on painting the grill. but i would just pop the whole thing off and paint the headlight bezels and entire grill black to look like:

just looks alot cleaner and meaner.

roll on bedliner of course!

jk use the same bedliner you used on your other parts or if you paint the whole thing black use semi gloss and if you tape it off and just paint the "mesh" parts I'd say semi gloss of flat black. I wouldnt make the whole thing shiny and glossy black because it will clash with the bedlined parts. no homo
