well this round of heat has brought up some cooling issues. with out running the A/C on the highway it will start creeping up past 215. with the a/c on its gotten up to 225, this is with me running the volvo fan on high manually and running the aux fan constantly

i think ive got some clogs in the radiator, that and i think my trans cooler is definatly every time i pull the cap theres som sediment where it seals, ill buy a new cap soon see if that helps.

if not i will replace the rad with the 19x22 aluminum on i bought for my v8 swap, mostly because i have it already, and it will get that part of the swap done already. also i dont want to go and buy an xj oem replacement to use it for 6 more months.

im also planning on running a dual circuit fluid cooler for the PS and trans fluid in the space where there will no longer be an xj radiator on the drivers side, ill be keeping my current fan setup.

my rear brake situation \has also gotten worse. i thought i fixed it but the sleeves in the capilper are supper loose causing a lot of rattling not sure yet if i can fix it or if i have to replace the caliper

also my power steering is still leaking, its leaking from the fitting the the HP PS line screws into, but from where the fitting seals against the pump. when i changed the lined that fitting came with it so i had to tighten it back in and its leaked ever since.

im goindg to be buying a "dd" soon so i can park the jeep for a bit and fix it and just have a back up cause ill go back to dding the xj when its finished, she has to roll 250000 before i yank the engine. im hoping to find a decent 98/99 bone stock xj, but they seem hard to come by for what im willing to spend.

I'm thinking I need to change the thermostat in mine. Thing never even gets to 210* unless I have the AC on and I'm sitting behind someone in the drivethrough in the middle of summer.

just realized i havaent mentioned thiss yet

bought a rusty 99 xj witth 169k as my future dd for 1500$
had a leaky a/c compressor (fixed with a 40$ junkyard compressor and 30$ of refrigerant) no stereo, super saggy headliner, and Deathwobble, gonna throw a HD steering stabilizer on it(yes im aware its just a bandaid, but thats what im looking for)

it'll serve as a dd while the v8 is going in scarlett

it will eventually serve as a parts jeep when i find an mj in the future, the mj will get a full 99 conversion inside and out with parts from the 99: axles/drivetrain/interior

Nice! I know of a '92 Country 2wd w/ a 5 speed that a lady has. I'm trying to talk her out of it but she's pretty smart about wanting to hang on to it.

i came across a really clean 92 laredo on CL but it had 270k and he wanted 2900 for it. i mean it was nice and i was seriously considering it but i couldnt get him to go lower than 2500. usualy i wouldnt consider that high of milage but it was that clean.

i wouldnt have paid much more than 1500 tho

Sounds like a good plan for the DD! I found that one fix for DW is a steering box stabilizer. My last two XJs got steering box braces after getting DW and it worked on both. But that was after the worn out bushings & bearings had been replaced. My local shop, V3 Jeep Shop, says if everything else is okay then it is the frame flexing that causes DW. So far they seem to have been right.

threw my new axle shafts in today along with the new timken unit bearings ive had sitting on my shelf for like 2 years. my vibes were getting so bad i didnt drive it for a couple days. no she drives super smooth.

i still get a little vibe at 55that i think is front pinion angle related i also get some wobble(not DW) at 70+ which i think is tire balancing related(havent done it since last june)

jeeps still running hot, may park it in a couple weeks and swap the 19x22 rad in, started a new job right in the middle of the busy season, so spare time is sparse
