looking good cant wait to see it done. thanks for the pic of the undercoating. I am ordering some today to put on after I finish my hooligan stiffners found it on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=ATVPDKIKX0DER . This XJ is gonna look killer
thanks. Glad you found something that'll work. Cheaper alternative to powder coating and better than paint. And you can always respray if it scratches
Got the hood louvers on. Put it a little to high on the hood so I had to expand the holes underneath to fit the socket on to tighten the bolts. A little work but I like the position of them. Any lower and it'd look funky
Finally painted. Spent all day taping and painting. Worked till 8pm but worth it. Paint turned out great. A few runs on the clear coat but easily fixable. I didn't paint the bottom part of the doors because I will be spraying them with another undercoat type spray similar to rhino liner. And didn't bother too much with the quarters since they're getting covered with the armor. I'll give a few days to dry and slowly start reassembly. Should be on the road next week.
Taped up Layer of sealer Base coat down 3 layers of clear
couldn't wait to do something, so sprayed the bottom part of the doors. looks great and will match the flares and armor. put the quarter armor on, attached the fender flare brackets, and trimmed the fender liners to fit the cut fenders. hope some more progress happens tomorrow as well.
put foam on around the edges so it doesn't scratch the paint, and sits more flush without having gaps against the panel
May have missed it but what kind of material are you spraying? PPG?
thanks, i posted a pic of the undercoat i used underneath the whole jeep and the armor and stuff. ill get a pic of the one i used on the bottom part of the doors. i like it better, its a better finish, sprays better and is in a bigger can.

I meant the actual color and clear. Sorry for not being more specific. Assuming you work in the auto body industry just based on your photos and the quality of work.

oh gotcha, for paint i usually go with diamont, but went with lesonal for this one. its a solid so lesonal was fine and a cheaper. but usually use diamont 9/10 times. and for clear i use euro classic transtar. I've tried multiple ones and personally prefer this one, lays well and stays smooth and shiny and clear. never had any problems with fading or peeling
